Dark streaks can make one slope of a roof look years older than the rest. They’re often algae, especially where shade and moisture linger. But streaks don’t tell the whole story: missing granules, damaged shingles and a failing metal coating are wear, and cleaning can’t repair them.
We clean asphalt-shingle and coated-metal roofs that are in suitable condition. The goal is to treat the growth on the roof you have, not to renew the roofing or stop a leak. If there’s known damage, tell us, because repairs may need to come first.

We assess the roof first, then protect the surrounding plants as the treatment requires. On compatible asphalt shingles, we apply the treatment at low pressure and let sun, weather and rain complete the release instead of forcing an immediate rinse. Shingles are never pressure washed, brushed or broomed. Compatible coated metal is treated, allowed to soak and rinsed under control. Moss and lichen are identified during the assessment rather than treated like an ordinary streak.

We check the roof’s condition first. Cleaning can’t fix leaks, loose or brittle shingles, corrosion or a failing coating, and those may need a roofer before any cleaning.

They can. Trees, shade, moisture and the direction a slope faces all affect how quickly growth returns, and one slope may show it before the rest. Cleaning treats the buildup that’s there; it doesn’t change those conditions.
